Long term good relations with RDIJC, and still going strong
ROMDAS is proud to have a long standing relationship with a number of agencies in East Timor responsible for road construction and maintenance
Location: Dili, East Timor
ROMDAS first supplied a system to East Timor authorities in 2011. Given the condition on the network at the time the system was specifically designed for use in dusty and rough conditions. The configuration included a Bump Integrator, a Right of Way camera, GPS receiver and ROMDAS DataView software.

The configuration included a Bump Integrator, a Right of Way camera, GPS receiver and ROMDAS DataView software.
A ROMDAS Z-250 reference profiler was also supplied for creating IRI calibration/validation sites. This met all their requirements and their available budget at the time. Over the years, ROMDAS has provided regular technical support, ensuring the system remained functioning despite surveying approximately 40,000km of rough roads per year.
In 2016, we revisited East Timor to perform a full service of the system and retrain the ROMDAS operators. It was encouraging to see many of the original survey team participating in the re-training giving their own experiences and views on using the ROMDAS system.
As their network improved, so have their data collection standards. To meet the new standards, ROMDAS was asked to upgrade the existing system with a new Laser Profilometer module for collecting high accuracy Roughness (IRI) data. This approach proved significantly more cost-effective than buying an entire new system and earlier this year our engineer, Srisha, went to East Timor to install the new equipment and train the survey team. We would like to thank the local staff who looked after Srisha during his visit and we look forward to continuing our close relationship.
